Laser and its Uses

Since I have posted here one of the uses of laser technology, I might as well give you more information about laser.

Laser stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.

To give you more idea of its uses:

-It is used in removal of kidney stones and other medical surgeries.
-Military can use it as an substitute to radar
-Obviously, it is used in printers (read:laserjet, etc)
-It can reduce your fat painlessly, smoothed out that acne in your face

The laser is an old technology and translational research has been used to put this great technology into action. It is not dangerous when utilized by professional. Laser is another application of science that makes life easier.

Financial Accounting And Technology Commercialization

Yesterday was the last day of our preparatory courses for the graduate studies. The last lesson we had is about accounting in the management context. I never took accounting in my bachelor's but was able to get a week of training on basic accounting last year. For an engineer like me, this is another side of mathematics that sometimes contradicts the rules taught in the engineering mathematics subjects. We were able to understand though the reason why there has been a financial crisis from the view of a financial expert.

After the almost two days lecture on accounting an examination followed. We were tasked to answer quiz related to the subject and there is a bonus essay that we have to answer ( i think it is optional).

I understood that a financial statement can be used in different ways and can be manipulated depending on the use of the document. This serves as a warning to someone who wants to invest on something that promises high ROI.

And this subject emphasized as well the importance of financial accounting on technology commercialization. With financial accounting, the business plan can be mapped out. The financial analysis plays a big role on the success of a certain business.

Since the holidays are near I did some tweaking again to give this blog a face lift. I am still working on the left column and I have not included the blogroll yet. I hope guys that you do not mind the absence of that corner. It will be up soon.

Happy Thursday.

Laser Technology for 20/20 Vision

Farsightedness, nearsightedness and astigmatism are eye problem that are often neglected since they are not considered disease. When these problems are not corrected this might lead to other personal difficulties and can trigger problems like migraine. There is a new technology that rises above other related technology that painlessly reshapes the cornea to accurately focus the refracted light in the retina. This technology is called iLASIK. For more than five years, this LASIK technology have benefited a lot of people particularly those personnel from NASA and U.S. military.

The iLASIK is a new innovation that differs from the available LASIK technologies today. There are two lasers used in this technology for accuracy. The first laser conducts the information gathering from the eye, mapping the unique characteristic of the patient. The second laser will be guided by the computerized information gathered from the eye for the vision correction. It is a painless 20 minutes procedure and 100% safe.

If you are interested about this technology, LASIK information can be found in their website. Since not everyone can be a candidate for this procedure, an evaluation test is available for anyone who is interested to avail of this technology. I heard that although this has benefited even those who are from NASA and U.S. military, it is not as expensive as it seems.

Don't Let the Cat Ran After It

You have been using the computer for ages. You know that the one you are staring at everyday is called a desktop monitor. The one with all the specifications is called a CPU and perhaps you even know what a CPU means is?

Okay, then tell me what is a mouse? Have you ever wondered why is it called a computer mouse? Well..

MOUSE is an acronym therefore you cannot add an "s" after the word. The word MOUSE is Manually-Operated User Selection Equipment.

Well, how;s that?

Sunday is Fun, If I Keep Myself from Falling Asleep

The weekdays had been hectic. I have been working the whole week real hard between the day job, part-time and graduate school pre-semester activities. On graduate studies, I am still trying to get the hang of it: listening to professors talking about things in a more formal way, meeting classmates who are older than me (others are younger) and additional hours away from home.

I have to admit that this has been a struggling week because I have to adjust my schedule on everything. I am hoping to write something decent later. So please hang on. :)

Comfortable Corporate Attire

If corporate attire is something that makes you uncomfortable during hot summer days, then this gadget is something that you might consider trying. Honestly, this is something that I find weird gadget since it's purpose is to keep the user cooler and adaptable with the humid weather.

well, with no further ado...here comes the USB Necktie Cooler.

(source: unknown)

This USB necktie cooler is easy to use. Wear the tie and connect the usb cable to your computer and you are all set. The USB necktie comes with breeze controller hence you can adjust it on the level of fan that you want. And since it is derived from the carry-anywhere-concept, it comes with a back up battery (AAA, i think) so that you can even use it without any computer around.

Just don't forget to unplug it from the computer when you go out..try it now!

Keywords and Page Rank

Not much opportunity from socialspark but I am still grateful for that particular site because I was able to explore more areas of the cyberworld through online buddies from that social network.

I have done some tweaking, hoping to bump this up for a little bit but I guess it is time to give up on the page rank thing on Google. There must be other way to increase traffic on this one.

Other blogs can do. Hoping to generate more traffic and start on clean slate in case that the Google Page Rank prefers those who are not into writing gigs or money generating ones, I made another blog hoping to keep things more organized.

If you can see, this blog although some find it more than okay is something that talks about anything. I tried to focus in technology and informational entries but how can you resist on talking about different interesting things around us?

Anyway, the new blog is supposed to be all about technology and food. But I will keep on coming back to this baby. I love this blog. So i think I will be staying here longer than the new one. I might not even post anything for now.

I am hoping to get something done tomorrow since I have to write something about backgammon today until Monday. Sounds good right?

Popularity is a Contest

This entry is very short. I need to talk out loud. It has been bugging me for awhile now, I have done a lots of tweaking, checking the meta tags, the titles, resubmitted the site map but it seems my pagerank in Google still have a problem. If I based it on the statistics from Google Web Master Tool, there are no errors on them. In fact most of my visitors came from Google.

So I wonder, what is wrong with my PR?

Slow Down Your Thoughts, Don't try Blocking them

Finding something to do is not as difficult as it seems, but something that pays is a totally different issue. Although there are lots of things to tap for earning money, the biggest money generator nowadays are the online generators. I can attest to that.

With my day job taking up most of my intellectual juices, a part-time seems out of the question. But since I loved writing even when I was still on my third grade, an opportunity knocks and I drew up the courage to give it a shot. I earned enough to call it a decent earnings for a part time job and there are a lot more that I was not able to explore yet.

(webshot source: google images)

Recently I tried the pay to click (PTC) and I think it just not my type. I heard that lots of people earn a lot from this but I think I don't have enough patience to wait for a site for a minute before clicking the next site.

Entry jobs, blogging, review are some of the online jobs available. For those who have the time and internet connection, this are great opportunities to try. For the technical guys, hosting your own domain and selling ads will definitely a blast.

For me? simple blogging and some project-based online writing gig is enough for now. I think happiness for me is by sharing my ideas on this online diary. I think I don't have much skill for data entry and PTC.

Happy surfing everyone!

Milk for your bones and Melamine for the plastic container

I love sweets: chocolate, candies, cake and other form of comfort foods is always welcome on my budget. Lately, my friends and I are discussing the China dairy scandal and the precautions to be done.

The scandal have spread, traces of melamine were also found not only on infant formula manufactured in china but also on other dairy-based products.

Cadbury recalled some of its product in Asia already. It was scary, thinking how much Cadbury chocolate I have consumed before the melamine issue. But Cadbury have not announced yet if there is really a trace of melamine on their products. It seems that they took precautions, just in case.

White Rabbit Creamy Candy, according to some reports have traces of melamine, but then I remember sometime ago that this same product was found containing formaldehyde.

webshot source: google images

What is melamine by the way? Melamine is an industrial additive that contains 66% nitrogen that can fool test on protein content. The melamine, in low dosage is nontoxic. But this substance can be fatal when combined with cyan uric acid.

Melamine contamination have gone a long way.

In 2007, pet food recall was linked to melamine contamination. Pets died due to kidney problems.

Another product recall was tied with melamine production on same year. The melamine was used as a binder for some feedstock. This products however were manufactured in the US,not in China.

It seems that there are many incidents related to wrong use of melamine. Whether it is China or another country, the issue on food safety is in question. What other contaminants will be found on the food we eat.

It is sad to know how science have been put in bad use. I've always been promoting innovation and inventions. I have stayed in the science long enough to appreciate how great inventions and innovations are when it comes to improvement of quality of life. Now with the Milk Scare, I think I have to revisit my plans. An organic garden and barn animals might be a good investment after all.

Promote good science. Let's put our acquired knowledge into good use.
